Baked Ginger Salmon

I love this recipe. It is so quick and easy to make. The added advantage is salmon is packed full of beneficial omega 3 fatty acids, so instead of taking fish oil, which can have an aftertaste, try our salmon recipe instead.
Make sure the salmon is fresh and doesn’t have a strong smell. I like to serve the salmon ever so slightly underdone but the choice is yours.
You will need:
- 1 salmon fillet per person
- teriyaki sauce* (about 1 Tbsp per fillet)
- lemon juice (optional)
- ginger, freshly grated (about ½–1 tsp per fillet)
And here’s what you do:
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Using kitchen tweezers, remove any exposed bones from the salmon fillet. Place the salmon skin side down on a nonstick baking dish or a dish lined with nonstick parchment paper.
Brush the salmon with teriyaki sauce and the lemon juice. Finely grate ginger on top of each salmon fillet. Bake for twelve minutes or until done to your liking. Every four minutes, baste the salmon with the teriyaki sauce. Do not overcook the fish or it will become dry.
Serve with a green salad and sweet potato mash or lightly steamed vegetables.
5 Cows Tip:
We usually remove bones prior to cooking, but salmon bones can be easier to remove after the fish has been baked.
